Solve KLEE PYQPsSection-Wise Question Distribution
Aptitude for Legal Studies: 42 questions (126 marks), about 35% of the paper
General English: 36 questions (108 marks), about 30%

KLEE 2027 Syllabus: Section by Section
1. Aptitude for Legal Studies (42 questions)
This is the most important section. It checks whether you can understand legal principles and apply them to situations, not whether you have memorised laws.

Law of Torts: negligence, nuisance, defamation, trespass, vicarious liability, strict and absolute liability
Law of Contracts: offer, acceptance, consideration, free consent, void and voidable contracts
Criminal law basics: general principles of crime, and an awareness of the new criminal laws (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam)
Legal maxims and legal terms: for example res judicata, audi alteram partem, ignorantia juris non excusat
Legal GK: landmark Supreme Court judgments, recent important laws, legal institutions and their heads
Logical reasoning: statements and assumptions, arguments, conclusions, cause and effect
2. General English (36 questions)
Reading comprehension passages
Grammar: tenses, articles, prepositions, subject-verb agreement, active and passive voice, direct and indirect speech
Error spotting and sentence correction
Vocabulary: synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitutes, spelling
Idioms and phrases
Fill in the blanks
Sentence and paragraph rearrangement (para jumbles)
3. General Knowledge & Current Affairs (27 questions)
Current affairs of roughly the last 12 months: national and international events, government schemes, summits and agreements
Indian polity, history, geography and economy: basic, school-level facts
General science: everyday science and recent developments
Kerala-specific GK: state government initiatives, history, culture and important personalities
Awards and honours, sports, books and authors, important days
International organisations and environmental agreements
4. Arithmetic & Mental Ability (15 questions)
The level is roughly up to Class 10 mathematics.
Arithmetic: percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time and work, time, speed and distance, basic algebra and mensuration
Mental ability: number and letter series, analogies, coding-decoding, blood relations, directions, seating arrangement, odd one out

How to Prepare for KLEE 2027: A Simple Plan
1. Start with the previous year question papers. Before you study anything else, solve one KLEE paper. You will see the real difficulty level and which topics appear again and again. You can download previous year KLEE question papers free from our website.
2. Give Legal Aptitude the most time. Spend about 40% of your daily study time here. Practise legal reasoning questions every day: read the principle, read the facts, and apply only the principle given in the question, not your own opinion.
3. Read an English newspaper every day. This improves your comprehension and vocabulary and covers current affairs at the same time. Note down 5 new words daily.
4. Make monthly current affairs notes. Don’t try to remember everything at the end. Revise one month’s notes each week.
5. Don’t neglect Arithmetic. It is only 15 questions, but they are the easiest marks to secure with practice. 30 minutes a day is enough.
6. Take a full mock test every week. Then increase to two or three a week in the last two months. Analyse every test: which questions you got wrong, and why.
7. Use negative marking wisely. Each wrong answer costs you 1 mark, and each correct one earns 3. If you can eliminate two options confidently, attempting is usually worth it. If you have no idea, skip it.
Common Mistakes KLEE Aspirants Make
Memorising law sections instead of practising legal reasoning
Leaving current affairs for the last month
Not timing themselves during practice, and then running out of time in the real exam
Guessing blindly and losing marks to negative marking
Studying only from one book without taking mock tests
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the KLEE syllabus the same for 5-year and 3-year LLB?
Yes. Both exams cover the same four sections. The 3-year LLB paper is often slightly tougher because candidates are graduates.
Is there negative marking in KLEE?
Yes. 1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer, and 3 marks are awarded for every correct answer.
Can I write KLEE after Plus Two Science or Commerce?
Yes. Students from any stream can apply for the 5-year LLB.
Is KLEE tougher than CLAT?
KLEE is generally considered easier than CLAT, but the competition for Government Law College seats is high. Its syllabus also overlaps a lot with CLAT, so preparing for one helps with the other.
How many months do I need to prepare for KLEE?
A one-year foundation course gives you the most comfortable preparation. With focused daily study and regular mock tests, 3–4 months of serious preparation can also get you a good rank.
